Priority for good police-public relationship, says DIG

“We pay attention to positive policing”

DINDIGUL: Top priority will be given for maintaining cordial relationship between police and the public, said Sandeep Mittal, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Dindigul Range.

Talking to press persons after assuming charge here on Monday, he said the prime duty of the police was to serve the public.

Their happiness is our motto. “People and the police officials may contact me at any time. Secrecy regarding the information passed by them will be maintained at all times. Equal importance will be given for maintaining law and order in the district,” he added. “We pay attention to positive policing.”

Reacting to Naxalite problems on Kodaikanal hill, he said there were no Naxal activities in Kodaikanal and Periakulam. “If there were such activities, immediate action will be taken to suppress them.”

Similarly, rowdyism and women harassment would be viewed seriously. Stern action would be initiated against such activities.


Warning on wrong information

In case of emergency, police officials and people may pass information. If the information were right, action would be taken.

If it were wrong, action would be initiated against persons giving wrong information, he added.

Mr. Mittal joined IPS in 1995 and served as Superintendent of Police for Kanniyakumari and Karur districts.

He also served as chief security officer for Tihar Jail and Director for National Narcotics Intelligence Bureau, New Delhi.

He had completed a two-month training on extremists’ prevention techniques in the US. Mr. Sandeep served as Deputy Inspector General of Police for Armed Reserve Police, Tiruchi.

Former DIG (Dindigul Range) Amaresh Pujari has been promoted and posted as Inspector General of Police, Training, Chennai.
